If you haven’t figured it out yet, the two candidates for democratic candidate are HILARY CLINTON and BARACK OBAMA. They are currently in their race to gain the most delegates, yada yada yada.

But what is this really?

Remember those good old days of voting for 8th grade superlatives and the “democratic” election of your SGA president? Has our political system really come so far as to equal such pathetic excuses of true-to-life honesty?

What I am trying to say is that, this year, it’s pretty much a freakin popularity contest.

You have Hilary and Obama, fighting it out for the position on the democratic side of things, both of which having pretty similar views and plans for the country. It’s gotten to the point where instead of talking about their ideas and plans, they just bash the other opponent’s campaign (4 in the morning comeback ad much?), and some people are simply voting for one or the other because they’d like to see a woman president vs. an african american president first, or vice versa.

Then, on the right side of things, you have you average white male in his 70s, McCain, who even though his card may say “Republican”, his views scream “Republicrat”. Add him into the mixture, boil in some post- primaries excitement, and the people of America now have 3 people to pick from with fairly similar views.

So who would you like to see in the white house? The first African-American prezzy, the first female prezzy, or the 44th white male president (cept this one is in his 70s..)?

So I was on YouTube (duh, where else?) and I as I browsed through the top videos of the day, I actually (for once in a LONGGG time) found something remotely interesting to watch. Sure, there was your average birth-defect-baby-donate-money-now video as most watched of the moment, then as usual there were a few random videos where people had made a freeze-frame of a boob right in the middle of some long rant in chinese, etcetera etcetera. But then I came across a Barack Obama political ad. Yup. But this wasn’t your average, “I am Barack Obama, and I approve this message.”

Apparently, in one of Clinton’s recent ads, she used stock footage of a sleeping girl from like 8 years ago. Well, this in this comeback ad, the girl, now 8 years older, talks about it.

See for yourself! It’s HILARIOUS.

I bet Hilary didn’t see THAT one coming down the pike.

Britney’s gone ANIMATED?

Britney Spears has hit us with yet another of her skank-tabulous music videos. But “Break the Ice” is not your average girl-in-booty-shorts-slapping-herself-in-random-”dance-moves” Britney vid. Ohhh no, in this one, the ENTIRE vid is animated. Like Japanese-style animae. And the character doesn’t even lip sing!

Her reps said that the video was done in this style because of her “current physical and mental state of unwell.”

Let’s hope she stays unwell for the next vid, because if you set aside the confusing plot and obnoxious music, this well may be Brit’s best music vid she has ever made!

Superbus. French Paramore? or more?

Ah, French pop culture. Not nearly as grungy and suggestive as our trashy rap/ hip-hop scene here in the states. Actually, its really different. Much French pop gives off that feel-good, breeze-through-hair, everything-my-way kinda vibe. They do have rock bands, but in my opinion, those give off the same vibe.

I was curious to know about the French music scene, so taking the most direct route, I asked a French kid, my e-penpal from Paris. She recommended a few artists, one of them being Johnny Depp’s wife, Vanessa Paradis, who apparently sings en francais. Hmmm… She also said her favorite band was one by the name of Kyo, which turned out to be a freakin’ awesome rock band. But my favorite of her recommendations was definitely French band Superbus, which has had songs on Guitar Hero and such. Here’s one of my favorite songs from them, probably their most well-known song.

Do you like it? I think they’re alot like Paramore. hmmm…..

I know what you’re thinking. MMMMM…. iPODS….. LAPTOPS….

Not that kind of M.A.C. silly! Makeup Art Cosmetics, that’s what. It’s definitely the bestest brand of makeup ever. And with such amazing color payoff and a freakishly large selection of every color of anything you can ever imagine, its totally worth the high-end price.

I was bored today, and after getting lots of things from the new limited edition Fafi collection (go here to learn more about the new collection and its inspiration, French grafitti artist Fafi), I decided to show YOU my MAC collection! It may not seem like alot, but this is over 200 dollars of makeup I have accumulated over a period of about 4 months. (4 months ago I discovered MAC and have been hooked ever since).

Here it is!*

All the products with the Fafinettes (the little girls) on them are from the limited edition collection that came out Wednesday.

OK so some of the things have to be opened to see the colors…

So yeah. MAC is AMAZING, and it can be found at MAC stores, their website, and MAC counters in various department stores like Nordstrom. I highly recommend checking out a counter because you can get a free makeover to test the products (don’t be shy, the artists are ALWAYS nice) and see for yourself!

*I do NOT wear this everyday! I’m not a whore! (I am a mac whore though, but thats different). I only collect because it is an ART! It is FUN to do makeup! So I was listening to my local top 40 radio station, Hot 99.5, and of course, every 5 minutes Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song” would play, intertwined with the occasional “Low” and “Teardrops on My Guitar” and whatnot. But then the last thing I expected played! Kane announced that this was a new song, and so I was ready to hear another one of Fergie’s GabaZILLION singles or yet another Timberland song where he never actually sings and has a “feat.” of like the randomest person. Next thing I know, METRO STATION came on with their awesome song Seventeen Forever! I was soooo excited. But then it was quite the bummer, when after the song, Kane gave the impression that the only reason they had played the song is because the lead singer Trace Cyrus is the half-brother of Miley Cyrus. Pathetic. Is that even legal? I mean, they shouldn’t play a band because one of its members (who is by the way my favorite ) is related to one of the brattiest people in pop culture.

Ugh.

Belief-O-Matic. Actually rather accurate!

If you go to Beliefnet.com, there is this amazing test you can take called the “Belief-O-Matic”. Basically, you answer alot of religion-based questions based on your personal beliefs, and based upon those answers, Beliefnet gives you a list of 27 religions in order of compatibility. As you may know (or not, you know I don’t exactly advertise my personal agenda), I recently had quite the fallout with my religion that I was raised in, Episcopaleonism, more christianity in general. I for quite some time could not think of something proper to call myself, because I believed that the term “athiest” had sort of an “I-am-a-rebel-and-I’m-freaking-hardcore-and-I’m-absolutely-gonna-rub-it-in-your-face” kinda tone to it. Then I came across this quiz.

My results? 100% Secular Humanist, 93% Unitarian Universalist, 76% Liberal Quaker, 70% Theravada Bhuddist, The list went on.

But then I got to # 14…

14. Scientology (33%)

What the fruck is that? That’s just plain INSULTING. Scientology is not a real religion! IT’S A FRUCKING CULT! CAN I NOT STRESS THIS MORE?

Other than that, the quiz was muy helpful, and I am proud to almost maybe call myself a secular humanist, maybe Unitarian Universalist, depending on which looks more “me” once I look into them.
